New kids of 2010

Godiva the goat had two daughters this morning, just as Rhea was leaving for the airport to pick up Erik, returning from Belize. Our does always seem to give birth in the coldest weather. Rhea quickly stole the chicken's heat lamp and set up a special stall for mom and her kids in the barn.

We are not good about sending out Christmas cards but love receiving them.
They remind us of family all over the world.
For example, these are cousins in Norway.

Winter protection of tropical plants

We try to create a lush tropical beach around the pool in the backyard. This requires a lot of hard work! These snapshots show what we have done in the past week to prepare for winter:
